Never lose an AI conversation. Get your disk back.
Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot and Codex quietly store gigabytes of sessions, databases and caches — and some delete your history after 30 days. ArchiveClarity shows you all of it, archives what matters to an encrypted vault you control, and safely frees the space.

How it works
See it. Archive it. Reclaim it. Restore it anytime.
ArchiveClarity lives in your menu bar and does the careful work that deleting folders by hand gets wrong.
- 01
See
A menu-bar app scans the folders AI tools write to and shows exactly what each one is storing: sessions, databases, caches and model files, with growth over time.
- 02
Archive
Pick what to keep. Sessions are packed into an encrypted, deduplicated archive on the destination you choose, then read back and verified.
- 03
Reclaim
Only after the archive checks out are originals removed, and only in ways the app won't notice. Everything sits in a 30-day undo window.
- 04
Restore
Search and read archived conversations in ArchiveClarity, or put any session back exactly where it came from with one click.

Safety
Deleting a folder is easy. Not breaking the app is the hard part.
Many AI tools keep a session list in one place and the session itself in another. Delete the file and the app shows a broken entry — or worse. ArchiveClarity is built around that problem.
Knows each app's layout
Sessions are often listed in a separate index — VS Code, Codex and Claude Desktop all do this. ArchiveClarity updates both together, so you never get broken entries.
Waits until the app is closed
Shared databases are only touched with the app quit. Sessions written in the last few minutes are treated as live and skipped.
Verifies before it removes
Every archive is read back and checked against content hashes before a single original byte is deleted.
30-day undo
Removed items go to a quarantine you can restore from with one click, and every action is written to a journal.
Read-only when unsure
If an app update changes its file layout in a way we don't recognize, that tool drops to view-only until we've verified the new format.
Never touches credentials
Auth files, API keys, config and lockfiles are excluded from cleanup — and from backups unless you opt in.
Your keys. Your storage.
Encrypted before it leaves your machine. No lock-in, ever.
Archives are compressed, deduplicated and encrypted on your device with a key only you hold. They use the open restic format, so they stay readable with free tools even without us.
- We never see your passphrase or your key
- Printable Recovery Kit at setup — lose both and the data is gone, by design
- Move an archive between destinations with one click

FAQ
Questions people ask first
Want the details? Start with a guide:
Will this break Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code?
That's the problem ArchiveClarity is built around. Every tool gets an adapter that knows how its files fit together — including the separate indexes some apps keep. Shared databases are only touched with the app closed, nothing is removed until its archive has been verified, and everything has a 30-day undo. If a tool's layout changes in a way we don't recognize, it switches to view-only.
Can you read my conversations?
No. Scanning and browsing happen entirely on your computer. Backups are encrypted on your device with a key derived from your passphrase before anything is uploaded, and that key never leaves your machine.
What happens if I lose my key?
Your archive can't be recovered — not by you, and not by us. That's what end-to-end encryption means. During setup we generate a printable Recovery Kit and ask you to confirm you've stored it somewhere safe.
Am I locked into your cloud?
No. Use your own drive, NAS, Google Drive, S3 or any rclone remote — cloud is optional. Archives use the open restic repository format, so you can restore them with free open-source tools even without ArchiveClarity, and you can move an archive between destinations with one click.
Claude Code already deletes old chats. Why archive them?
Claude Code removes transcripts older than cleanupPeriodDays — 30 days by default — and Gemini CLI has a similar sweep. If you ever want to look back at how something was built, ArchiveClarity backs those sessions up before they're swept, and lets you search them later.
How is this different from CleanMyMac or DaisyDisk?
Disk tools see files. ArchiveClarity understands what AI tools store — sessions, the indexes that point at them, caches that are safe to regenerate — so it can archive instead of delete, keep the apps consistent, and let you read old conversations afterwards.
Which platforms, and when?
macOS comes first as a direct download, with Windows and Linux after. App Store versions will follow. We're building now — waitlist members get the first beta builds.
